The Delaunay is a grand European Café Restaurant located on the Aldwych, Covent Garden.
The Delaunay ensures you get the best out of the most important meal of the day. After all author A. A. Gill obeserved; “Somewhere, someone is starting breakfast and thinking, ‘Today will be better than yesterday.’ Wherever, whenever breakfast comes, it’s a mouthful of stoic optimism,”.
Now if you can’t make breakfast you’ll need to fill up on The Delaunay’s extensive à la carte menu, made available to you throughout the day, seven days a week, inspired by the grand cafés of Europe. The menu has a wide choice of dishes from platters of crustacea, to salads, and café classics such as choucroute à l’Alsacienne, moules frites and steaks, as well as our special selection of Wieners and Schnitzels. A tempting array of cakes, slices, desserts and ice cream coupes follows.
The Delaunay’s Afternoon menu offers assorted finger sandwiches, fruit scones, a selection of pastries and choice of teas (or coffees) every day, as well as ice cream coupes, milkshakes and floats. All our scones and pastries are made on the premises, with an ever-changing selection of cakes and slices, which might include a Pear and Blackcurrant Millefeuille, a Toscaner or a Coffee and Stroh Rum Cake.
According to an article in ‘Hunter’s Weekly’ in 1895, brunch is “cheerful, sociable and inciting. It is talk-compelling. It puts you in a good temper, it makes you satisfied with yourself and your fellow beings, it sweeps away the worries and cobwebs of the week.” Starting with typical breakfast Viennoiserie and egg dishes, and moving onto lunch-time classics, The Delaunay’s brunch is served every Saturday and Sunday until late in the afternoon.
Finally and certainly not least try The Delaunay’s two Private Dining Rooms seat up to 8 and 14 guests respectively and are available to book for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The two rooms can also be opened up to accommodate a long table of 24 guests. Located on a raised level above the ground floor of the restaurant, both rooms are discreetly shielded from the outside world yet flooded with light from large windows during the day. Clad in beautiful wood panelling and featuring original paintings from the restaurant’s outstanding collection, the rooms are perfect for celebratory meals, as well as business gatherings, with a plasma screen available in the Kean Room.
