The Big Chair Project, Glamorous Chairs For A Great Cause

The Big Chair Project has been organised by The Better Food Foundation, the charity founded by Jamie Oliver. In 2002, Jamie created the much-loved restaurant ‘Fifteen’, that aimed to use food to give young people a chance for a better future by giving young unemployed people the skills they need to go on to become professional chefs.

With 2012 marking the 10 year anniversary of this programme, The Better Food Foundation have decided to create an event that will raise much-needed funds for the next 10 wonderful years.

The Big Chair Project has invited designers to create chairs for Jamie’s latest charity auction including a girly ruffle chair by Sarah Burton and a sleek studded chair by Christopher Bailey to name just a few.

The designers and artists were asked to customise their own chair by the furniture brand Fritz Hansen, a supporter of the Fifteen foundation. Six of the glamorous chairs will be available to win as part of a lottery whilst the remaining chairs will be auctioned off online.

Other events will be running throughout 2012 to raise money for this excellent programme including a Big Feastival, a two-day celebration of food, music and fun for everyone to enjoy and will take place from the 31st August to the 2nd September. Following this, The Big Night Out annual fundraiser will be held on the 15th November at the Old Billingsgate and guarantees a great celebratory night out for an incredible cause!
