Sukiyabashi Jiro, Tokyo

Overview
Located in Ginza, Chūō, Tokyo, Japan, Sukiyabashi Jiro is a three-Michelin-star restaurant owned and operated by sushi master Jiro Ono, an 86-year-old national treasure.
Dubbed the “world’s best sushi bar”, the restaurant provides no menu, inviting guests to instead sample the inspirational fruits of Jiro Ono’s labour, in the form of around 15-to-20 dishes.

Location
Attached to the Ginza Metro Station, the restaurant is situated in an intimate and secluded location, which only exaggerates its tranquil ambience. Each dish arrives on a single piece of wood before the seated customer, with the whole dining experience lasting around half an hour.
Widely regarded for its sublime sushi, Sukiyabashi Jiro recently featured in a 2011 American documentary film directed by David Gelb. Entitled ‘Jiro Dreams of Sushi’, the documentary follows chef Jiro Ono on his journey to master the art of sushi.
With the restaurant being understandably popular – acknowledged by coveted French chef Joel Robuchon as being one of the best in the world – as well as providing seating for only ten, and a one-on-one service, reservations are required at least three months in advance.
