The course’s main objective is to give a thorough understanding of the real estate market fundamentals and value chain and explain the various investment vehicles. Through practical case studies and exercises participants will go through the steps of structuring a real estate project analysis using Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) and alternative methods.

The importance of the cost of capital determination and the leveraging level in order to arrive at the project capital structure will also be addressed in a practical context. This two-day interactive course aims to introduce participants to:

  • The Real Estate Market Fundamentals: Examines the magnitude and performance of the real estate sector and its role vis-a-vis the capital markets.
  • The dynamics and value chain of real estate market: Overview of the real estate value chain and ‘system’, as well as of the forces and factors shaping the demand and supply for the sector.
  • Real estate investment vehicles: Explanation and analysis of the major types of capital asset markets and investment products.
  • Structuring a real estate project analysis using DCF and alternative methods: This section goes through the fundamental principles underlying DCF analysis, including creating an excel model for a development project
  • The corporate finance aspect of a real estate project: Discussion of the importance of cost of capital determination and the leveraging level in order to arrive at the project capital structure.

A reduced fee may be provided if an institution intends to be represented by more than 3 delegates in a specific workshop. The workshop may also be run in-house, exclusively to the requirements of a family office or a specific industry institution. Refund policy: The Family Office Institute operates a no refund policy with respect to workshop cancellations. However, subscriptions may be transferred to alternative workshops, or alternative client institutions upon request.
