Palkin is one of the oldest and most renowned restaurants in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. It opened its luxurious doors in 1785, and became a mecca for aristocrats and intellectuals. The restaurant was renovated in 2002, however Palkin still manages to retain its impeccable history and honoured traditions.
“From the moment you walk in, this restaurant delivers a top-class dining experience. The décor is opulent but classy, with a live pianist playing the whole evening.”
Palkin is situated in Nevsky Prospect, one of the most fashionable districts in Saint-Petersburg. Founded by Anisim Palkin, it was a popular destination for outstanding figures of his time, such as Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Anton Chekhov and Fyodor Dostoevsky. The décor is simply stunning with dramatic high ceilings, sumptuous stucco designs, luxurious chandeliers and grand pianos all elaborately combined to recreate the “bohemian” atmosphere of Saint-Petersburg’s glory days.
Palkin Restaurant offers a splendid menu of French and Russian cuisine created from historic recipes. Featured delicacies include lobster neck with avocado and black caviar, rabbit stewed in sour cream and starlet baked in white wine with a sauce of cèpes and crayfish. Diners are treated to an extensive selection of rare wines, cognacs and vodkas. The atmosphere is sophisticated and tasteful; diners are entertained by live musical performances every evening, ranging from classical to jazz. The overall effect is the creation of an unforgettable fine dining experience.
