Norwegian Designer Nina Naustdal Presents Autumn/Winter 2012 GOLD Collection
Inspired by Arctic coastlines –- stark and dramatic, yet highly romantic — Nina Naustdal GOLD’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection presents arresting evening gowns in billowing silks, chiffons, and lace, as well as sassy satin cocktail dresses in a chilly colour palette ranging from aquamarine, royal blue and navy, to slate grey, black and white.
The Norwegian-born designer’s passion for design stems from her childhood practice of sketching her visions on the kitchen table which her grandmother, a professional seamstress, would then make up for her. In order to make steps towards professional fashion designing, she pursued a career in catwalk modelling but that failed to satisfy her hunger for creativity. She soon left modelling behind, and enrolled at the prestigious London Esthetique, a school for beauty and makeup studies, at which time she launched Nina Naustdal Beauty.
New this season, Nina Naustdal introduces ultra-luxe fur pieces to her ready-to-wear line, highlights of which include an oversized cardigan embellished with Swarovski crystals, as well as embellished headbands and a white fur poncho. Her GOLD collection shows stunning evening gowns, cocktail dresses, lace embroidered shorts and jumpsuits.
The colours range from gold to a classy black and red, very bright and shiny but also plain colours. Special pieces of Nina’s GOLD collection include a lilac-coloured blouse with faux leather applications on the collar and sleeves. Light fabric made jumpsuits are eye-catchers next Autumn/Winter with their extraordinary cuttings that perfectly underline a feminine shape.
A highlight of GOLD is the elegant, golden jacquard evening gown with a provoking slit in the middle to show some leg. The neckline of the dress is covered with little Swarovski crystals which give it a glamorous and extravagant look. Also, the black gown with a plunging neckline, Swarovski crystals on top of the shoulders and décolletage and silkz applications give it a graceful but classy look. This floor-length gown is shorter in the front which creates a young and beautiful picture.
