Under the High Patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, Monte-Carlo is currently flourishing. Thanks to the Grimaldi family, Monte-Carlo attracted Europe’s elite to take up residence in this beautiful and luxurious city as early as the 19th century. Since then, no other city in the world has attracted and engaged the global jet set in quite the same way that Monte-Carlo has.
Opened in 1879 the Opéra de Monte-Carlo is a world-class venue. Designed by Charles Garnier, also designer of Le Palais Garnier in Paris, the Opéra de Monte-Carlo became known, similarly to its Parisian counterpart, as the Salle de Garnier. World renowned for its ornate interior few opera houses rival the Salle de Garnier for opulence, with great opera singers such as Enrico Carruso and Tita Ruffo having performed there in the past, the beautiful interior is only matched by the quality of the performances.
Also featured are performances by the world-renowned Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra and Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo. The orchestra gives concerts primarily in the Auditorium Rainier III, but also performs at the Salle des Princes Grimaldi Forum. Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo was established in 1985 by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Hanover in accordance with the wishes of her mother, Princess Grace of Monaco, a keen follower of the fine arts. The first performance for Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo took place in 1985, casting, amongst others, several guest stars of the Paris Opera.

Monaco's annual Spring Arts Festival is one of the most exciting cultural events in the Principality and brings talented artists to Monte-Carlo from around the globe to entertain guests with art, music, theatre and dance at historic venues throughout the Principality. Jazz music spreads its wings in Monaco during the annual Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival with live performances that rival those you would find in New Orleans. The festival combines tradition and innovation, and brings together spectators of all ages and kinds. Recently, this event presented a rare, mysterious, uncut 303.20 carat diamond from the Boulle collection, while it hosted six Supercar World Premieres with Vencer, Mazzanti, Mansory, Delavilla, Savage Rivale and ISIS available for test drives on the famous Monaco Grand Prix circuit.
The Monte-Carlo Rolex Tennis Masters, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2006, is the first of three ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments played on clay. The tournament is a player and fan favourite due to its magnificent location at the Monte-Carlo country club and its stellar list of champions including the likes of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. The best known of the Monte-Carlo sporting events is, of course, the Monaco Grand Prix. This is the race that F1 drivers aspire to win and devotee’s wish to watch due to its reputation as the greatest test of a driver’s skill on the circuit. Le Louis XV is a restaurant by famed chef Alain Ducasse that upholds his global reputation as the creator of only the finest of restaurants. Inside the restaurant, which serves predominately Mediterranean cuisine, the decoration is designed to mimic the Palace of Versailles and the clocks are always set to 12 o’clock to remind you that, when here, time is of no consequence.
