Monaco Red Cross Gala Ball, 1 August 2014

Overview
Established in 1948 by Prince Louis II of Monaco, the Monegasque Red Cross Ball has consistently held prestigious events and shows for its benefit. This wonderful ball marks one of Monaco’s most prestigious events, bringing out a score of international celebrities in their best suits and ball gowns all for a good cause.
This annual August ceremony is held in the Salle des Etioles of Monte Carlo Sporting Club, carrying its many traditions of fireworks, sumptuous food, a lottery draw and music entertainment under a roof of sophistication and elegance.
Since 1989, it has become a tradition for artists to pay their tributes to the Red Cross by creating paintings influenced by their interpretation of the Red Cross symbol. Previous artists include Peter Klasen, Jean Miotte and Damien Hirst.
The lottery draw is also hugely anticipated, with many sought after prizes such as luxury items, holidays and diamonds to liven up the gala.
Many artists have also taken the stage of the Salle des Etioles, including Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra and Diana Ross, to raise funds for the Monaco Red Cross. This is a much celebrated and extremely popular event; a delightful, legendary soiree for the social calendar.
