Ekincik, The Clash of Civilizations

Ekincik is a small bay lined with pine trees which serves as the primary anchoring point from which to visit the ancient sites of Dalyan and Caunos. These ruins show a wide variety of architecture from all of the ancient civilizations which colonized this region, but the most interesting of them is the giant Lycian ceremonial tombs cut into the side of the cliff face, an awe-inspiring sight which is not to be missed.

Ekincik is also a fascinating ecological region, the ‘Turtleís Beach’ between the sea and marshland is a unique breeding ground for the Giant Loggerhead Turtle, a species which cannot be seen anywhere else in the Mediterranean.
