Sounion, Visit the Home of Poseidon

The ancient Greeks believed that the cape of Sounion was controlled by the Sea god Poseidon, and they constructed a magnificent temple on its highest point to win his favour. The ruins of this temple are still standing and have become one of the main attractions for visitors to the Attica region.

The Temple of Poseidon has a long history as a magnet for superyacht travellers, and if you look close enough it is possible to make out some graffiti written in the 18th century by English poet Lord Byron! Although Sounion is primarily a historical site it also has charms beyond its temple, the beautiful coves and spectacular views of the Aegean sea make it a perfect place to relax.
