Brioni Islands – Hollywood’s choice

The Brioni Islands (also known as the Brijuni Islands) are a group of fourteen small islands in the Adriatic sea. The story of the luxury islands as they are today begins in 1893, when a Viennese business tycoon bought the archipelago and transformed it to an elite resort, sporting first class hotels, gourmet cuisine, a casino and yacht marina.

From then on the islands were a focal point in Austrian high society, and even saw visits from many of Hollywood’s stars.

The Brioni Islands retain their luxury status, being home to a sailing regatta, a golf course, equestrian activities and unspoiled beaches. The luxury yacht traveller can also discover the islands’ considerably more ancient history, with sites including a national park, a 1,600 year old olive tree, and even dinosaur footprints.
