Cuitadella, The Old Capitol

On the western end of Menorca lies Ciutadella, one of the two main cities in the Balearic Islands. This is one of the most popular yachting destinations in the Balearic Islands. Originally founded by the Carthaginians, it was already the seat of a bishop in the 4th century. You can stroll the medieval streets filled with palaces, churches and fortresses. There are excellent coves and beaches along with remote fishing towns.

Here you can take in the history and culture that was once the crown of Aragon. Some of the main sights worth seeing include the old town and the town hall, which is the former palace of the Arab governor. In the 17th century, many civil and religious buildings were built there in the Italian style, which gives Ciutadella a truly historic and artistic feel.
