Fogo de Chão, São Paulo
With four outlets across São Paulo, it would be a crime to forego an opportunity to dine at one of the best Brazilian steakhouses in its nation of heritage. Preparation of the meat using the authentic gaucho method makes for deliciously tender meat, packed full of flavour. Pace yourself – the first taste will leave you wanting more.
Eating at Fogo de Chão is a unique outing in itself as the guests are able to experience firsthand, traditional south Brazilian culture and impeccable tableside service that comes as a result.
This renowned churrascaria is truly interactive as the open salad is self service and after that, guests are spoilt with choice as patrolling waiters bring various cuts of meat straight to your plate.
The side bar however, is not your regular lettuce, tomatoes and coleslaw. Fogo de Chão’s superior offering stocks quality cured meats, rich shitake mushrooms, smoked salmon and copious amounts of fresh, seasonal vegetables.
Every table is issued a card which is green on one side and red on the other. Show the green side when you are ready for your main course, the circulating serving staff will come to you with sizzling, barbecued meats from the kitchen. Keep an eye out for the notoriously good picanha, top sirloin and leg of lamb but be sure to try any specials, such as chicken hearts. Allow yourself to be tempted by the warm cheese bread and crispy polenta sides as well, to complement the stunning cuts.
It is hard to be disappointed here as each component of the restaurant is so well devised. Desserts and wine menus are on par with the rest of the meal but the overall experience is fun. The tables are scattered with information as to the cuts of beef, the wealth of waiters are attentive and certain to meet your every need. Even locals flock to this joint to enjoy the barbecue of a lifetime.
