Egyptian, Classical and Western Asiatic Antiquities, 1 – 5 Jun 2013
–
Overview
This season’s Antiquities auction will include a variety of examples of Egyptian, Classical and Western Asiatic material.
Among our highlights is an imposing, monumental torso of an emperor wearing armour, expertly restored in the 18th century as a depiction of Lucius Verus, co-emperor in the mid-2nd century AD.
We will also offer a fine marble torso of a satyr leaning on a wineskin, once in the collection of Oskar Bondy, which comes to us by descent from the collection of the American sculptor Marshall M. Fredericks.
