Contemporary Portraiture, London, 8-24 May 2014

Overview

Mark you diary for this prestigious exhibition. Over 200 portraits by over 100 artists will celebrate the diversity of this fascinating genre.
Celebrities will spangle an exhibition of characters to be depicted in styles from the photo-real to the painterly, from the traditional to the challenging.

Our distinguished members’ work will be on display enriched by about 100 works by emerging non-member artists who compete to be exhibited.

It will feature our top artists. Antony Williams is exhibiting two of his widely admired, penetrating studies Antonia Looking up and Emma Jane. June Mendoza’s quirky, challenging portrait of veteran actor Trader Faulkner will excite comment. Melissa Scott-Miller, a noted figure in the field, is showing a portrait of her young son. Sue Ryder’s group portrait The Edwards Family and her Two Teachers, Mr and Mrs Goodhart are also on show.

The tradition of portrait commissioning remains strong despite the advent of the digital era and this exhibition is the perfect showcase for anyone who would like to choose a portrait painter.
