Bentley Continental Supersports, Extreme Performance

This is a car created through the continuing desire to reach new limits. This is the Continental Supersports. The Continental Supersports represents a perfect relationship between engineering and design with the enhanced iconic GT looks reflecting and heightening the supercar performance.

Its aggressive, low muscular stance not only draws attention to the changes beneath the skin, but serves an equally important technical role. Even the wheel was reinvented. The striking 10-spoke blade-like design drives airflow over the largest carbon ceramic brakes ever offered on a production car. Distinctive styling for extreme performance. Everything about the Supersports is engineered for a single purpose: to deliver the most thrilling driving experience imaginable.

Throughout the cabin the Alcantara trim to the seats and door panels features our signature diamond quilting – a pattern inspired by heritage Bentleys – though the diamonds are smaller for a more aggressive and contemporary look. Contrast stitching and piping create a more sporting look and help emphasise the contours of the interior.

The driver instrument panel has a carbon fibre finish to the fascia and centre console, which is carried through to the treadplates featuring the unique Supersports script. And for true supercar style, there are drilled alloy sports pedals, a three-spoke steering wheel and gear lever in soft-grip leather and carbon fibre sports seats.

Legendary models likes the R-type Continental were a source of inspiration to the current design team, which drew on the original Continental’s key design forms such as its dominant bonnet, sleek and compact cabin and taut, pronounced rear haunches. A deliberate decision was also taken to minimise the Supersports’ exterior ‘jewellery’ to ensure that some of Bentley’s most classic features – the bold headlamps and matrix grille – were given maximum prominence. At the rear, the low muscular stance – emphasized on the Supersports thanks to its wider wheel arches – creates a statement of intent that is unmistakeable.

Bentley Motors was founded by W.O. Bentley in 1919 when the first Bentley engine burst into life at New Street Mews, London. From these modest beginnings, W.O’s company went from strength to strength through the 1920s, with an evolving series of acclaimed motor cars and a parade of racing triumphs to prove their outstanding performance. These laurels were capped with five outright victories at Le Mans between 1924 – 1930 and a sixth in 2003.

If we had mission statements in those days, it could not have been expressed more eloquently than in the words of W.O. himself, “To build a fast car, a good car, the best in its class”. These words are just as relevant today as they continue to inform our beliefs, actions and ambitions for the future. Located in Crewe, England since 1946 and owned since 1998 by Volkswagen AG, Bentley Motors is dedicated to making responsive and powerful Grand Tourers with the stamina to cross continents at pace, and drive in refined comfort and style.
